Why you should advertise with us...
Horsesales, Inc. has been on
the 'net at the same address
since March 1996, so we have an
extensive network of sites that
provide links to us, as well as
an established presence in the
major search engines, and an
established base of regular
Our web site welcomes hundreds
of visitors per day, most of them
looking specifically for a horse
or related service. Some sites
advertise the "number of hits",
"impressions", or "page views"
they get per day, but this is
not the same thing as number of
We are proactive in promoting
our advertised horses and
businesses by spreading the
word with social networking
tools, and by promoting our web
site at shows, race tracks,
tack shops, boarding stables,
as well as on the internet.
Our prices are incredibly low -
a 3 picture ad for $25, a video
ad including 3 pictures for $50.
Ads are posted at this price for
6 months, which we have found is
usually enough time for most
horses to sell. Many horses sell
in just a few days! If you are
not happy with the response
from your ad, we are happy to
change the photos or any other
information in the ad during it's
run at no extra charge.
All our sale ads are all on a
separate page to enable sellers
to print the ad like a flyer
to post around town, and to use
the specific web address of
their ad in email to buyers, and
easily link in free classifieds,
on facebook, linkedin and twitter.
We don't charge extra for scanning,
editing, or compressing photos and
videos, for returning photos or
videos, or for customizing your ad
- everything is included in the
upfront, flat rate. When compared
to other sites, we provide a larger
picture size and better clarity in
our videos, and all photos are
optimized for fastest download
and most attractive presentation.
We have cultivated a customer
base of buyers who are always
looking for horses, and who
we notify when we have a horse
for sale that meets their criteria
- this is a value added service
that you won't get from most
other advertising web sites.
Each Horsesales, Inc. associate
has at least 25 years experience
in the horse business - breeding,
racing, showing, also buying and
selling. Practical experience,
contacts, and our location in the
horse oriented state of Kentucky,
gives us an edge that some other
advertising sites don't have.
We keep the site simple for a
reason. Horses get lost in large
databases of generated pages where
every other site visitor does a
search for "16 hand gelding".
Search engines can also have
problems indexing generated pages.
We believe the buyer and seller
are better served by our
traditional sale list format,
categorized by age and training.
We don't do text-only ads
because they don't work. Some
sites display thumbnail photos
in search results or display
thumbnail photos for those ads
that have a photo. We display a
thumbnail photo for every single
ad in our sale lists. We do this
because it is what buyers and
sellers want, and it helps draw
attention to horses that may
otherwise be skipped over.
Finally, not only are we very
experienced in the horse business,
but we are seasoned computer
professionals who understand
the internet. We can help you
understand and get the greatest
benefit out of internet advertising.
about Amy Stevens, President, Horsesales, Inc. -
Amy worked as a groom during and after college at
farms and stables specializing
in American Saddlebred show horses (Zubrod Stables and Rock Creek Riding Club), Trakehner breeding stock and event horses (Jay Albrecht and Martha Lambert), Arabian breeding stock and performance horses (Paramont Arabians). She has worked as a
groom at Churchill Downs and Louisville area training centers (Robert (Bob) Pincins and Kenny Burkhardt),
and on thoroughbred farms where she learned
the details of breeding and foaling, and prepping yearlings for sale (Sunny Acres Farm and Longfield Farm).
She later lived the "corporate life" working her way up as a computer
programmer and field engineer to managing a large project for TRW
During this time, Amy kept horses at one of
the biggest eventing barns in Kentucky, where she took regular lessons,
showed a little, and eventually concentrated on dressage with her Dutch Warmblood/Thoroughbred gelding.
The rest of her life was filled with managing a partnership of 20 people who claimed and raced
horses in Kentucky. All these valuable experiences converged into an idea in
1996, when the internet was starting to create a stir, and Horsesales, Inc.
Amy Stevens is founder and President of Horsesales, Inc. In addition to the Horsesales web site, she manages web sites for many other horse related businesses. She also assists husband Jere Smith Jr. with his business training thoroughbred race horses and providing consulting services to privately owned racing stables. See Jere's web site at www.jrsmithjr.com.
I'm honored to be in this photo with legendary Churchill Downs jockey Charlie Woods.
